16th - 18th September
Calling all writers….
Lewes Little Theatre – New Writing Festival
Lewes Little Theatre is proud to invite writers to submit original plays for our New Writing Festival – a celebration of bold ideas, fresh perspectives, and exciting new voices for the stage. This will be held in the theatre’s foyer, 16th-18th September 2026.
At the heart of our theatre is a belief that great stories begin with writers. The festival aims to champion original work and to provide a platform where new plays can be heard, explored, and brought to life in front of an engaged audience.
Artistic Director Shaun Hughes is actively seeking new scripts and is passionate about discovering work that connects with audiences in fresh and unexpected ways. This is an opportunity for writers to share their work with a theatre that values originality, collaboration, and creative ambition.
Your Story Starts Here
Lewes Little Theatre’s New Writing Festival is an open invitation to writers who are ready to put their work forward. We are looking for new plays, new ideas, and new voices – and your script could be among them.
Submit your play and be part of the future of new writing at Lewes Little Theatre.
Why Submit Your Play?
By submitting your work, you will be placing your play in front of a theatre that is genuinely interested in new writing. This is a chance to be part of a festival dedicated to original voices and to engage with a creative community that takes writers seriously.
Writers at all stages of their journey are encouraged to submit. If you have a script you are excited about, don’t second-guess yourself – we would love to read it.
How to Submit
Playwrights are invited to submit original one-act plays of about 1 hour duration directly to Artistic Director Shaun Hughes for consideration as part of the festival.
If you have a story to tell, now is the time to share it. Please submit this to shaun.hughes61@hotmail.co.uk by Saturday 4th July
